Company profile

Sentinel is a company with a clear goal: we provide water treatment products and services for the best possible protection and longest possible service life of heating systems and hot water systems. Sentinel was founded by Grace Dearborn in the United Kingdom in 1988. The company was subsequently a subsidiary of the leading multinational General Electric. Since 2005, Sentinel has been operating independently and is constantly expanding its international reach and portfolio of innovative solutions. As of 2021, Sentinel is owned by Aalberts N.V. and is part of its Hydronic Flow Control division.

Innovation
We have produced many innovations throughout our history. It started with the groundbreaking jet backwash system in 1998 and led to the development of the world's first multi-cyclone central heating filter, the Eliminator, in 2012. As the market leader in the UK, we are naturally proud of this reputation for innovation and new product development.

Our products are designed to meet the needs of installers and technicians in both domestic and commercial central heating applications. We continue to develop our products for traditional boiler systems while expanding into products for renewable energy and domestic hot water systems. But we also have a range of products in our portfolio that we have developed specifically for specialized markets, such as Germany.

International growth
We are also proud of the international expansion we have been pursuing since 1988: we now have operations in the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, the US, and various areas of Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, and Asia. Our goal is to raise awareness of the benefits of water treatment for households and small commercial units in relevant markets around the world.

Industry partnerships
We are recognized and supported by the leading suppliers of heating and hot water systems. Over the years, we have built strong relationships with many major brands in the plumbing and heating industry in Germany, the UK, and internationally. From the first boiler installation manual, in which we recommended the additional installation of Sentinel's X100 inhibitor, to the current development of our online services, we work closely with manufacturers to raise awareness of the importance of water treatment in protecting the life of systems and maximizing heating performance.

Our people
Our success is based on the fantastic work of our field teams and our staff at our head office in the North West of England and in our international offices. We have found that many of our potential customers are not yet aware of the many benefits of water treatment. We therefore aim to work with our industry partners to raise awareness. We are working to develop the best possible training and communication tools to support this initiative.
