The Cologne Guild for Plumbing, Heating and Climate Control (SHK) serves simultaneously as an interest group, a training center, and a continuing education institution. As an association of skilled tradespeople from the region, it carries out a wide range of tasks:

It promotes the shared commercial interests of its members.
It fosters a sense of community and professional honor and contributes to good relations between masters, journeymen, and apprentices.
It regulates and supervises training for plant mechanics in plumbing, heating, and climate control technology within the dual vocational training system and conducts the journeyman examinations.
It offers a wide variety of courses and training programs, thereby contributing to the continuous professional development of masters and journeymen.
As a Competence Center for Building and Energy Technology, it serves as a point of contact for all questions relating to this specialized field within the SHK trades.
