The Wood Heat Initiative has set itself the task of making a substantial contribution to an objective energy policy assessment of the potential of wood heat. In the initiative's view, the CO₂ reduction targets set by the Green Deal for 2030 can only be achieved by accelerating the expansion of ‘green energy sources’ in the heating market. These include green gases, green fuels and green electricity, but also CO₂-neutral wood heat. The Wood Heat Initiative therefore advocates existing technological solutions, their optimised application and energy policy strategies for the expansion of clean, efficient and sustainable wood heat.
